Frequently Asked Questions About
E-Publications

What articles and e-books are available?

ASCD has made available for instant access the electronic versions of nearly 1,000 articles dating back to 1998 from Educational Leadership, the Journal of Curriculum and Supervision, Education Update, Curriculum Update, and the Curriculum•Technology Quarterly. Also available are 16 How To…  electronic books. (See the list of e-books below.)

In what format are these electronic versions available?

All the articles and e-books are formatted with HTML, so they are viewable with any Web browser.

If I am an ASCD member, do I already receive access to these publications?

ASCD members receive full-text electronic access in the ASCD online library, so they do not need to go through ASCD's e-publications area to view this content. However, members do not receive as benefits the How To…  books.

Can I use my ASCD member login and password information?

No. You must set up an account specific to the e-publications area.

I am not an ASCD member. How can I join ASCD?

Consult the Membership area for further information about ASCD's membership categories and how to join ASCD.

Is there a search function?

Yes, you may search for keywords by relevance or date within a publication or across the archive.

What is the price for these e-publications?

There is no charge to search the archive of articles and books. The price to view or print a full article is $3.00; the e-books range in price from $7.95 to $12.95. Purchase of content entitles you to view it at any time as long as you are logged in with your unique e-publications username and password. (See information below about how to register.)

What payment types are accepted?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Sorry, but we cannot accept purchase orders, checks, or other credit cards.

Is the site secure?

Yes, the Web server (provided by Infocon America) is secure, and its security is ensured by GeoTrust.

Do I need to register and sign on to use the service?

Yes. To set up a username and password, select New User Registration and provide the information as requested. When signed on, you may access any articles or e-books you have purchased at any time, on an ongoing basis. And, if you like, you may keep your credit card information on file so that you will not have to enter it each time you wish to make a purchase.

What does it cost to register?

Registration is free. You pay only for the publications you purchase.

Can I purchase an article without registering and signing on?

Yes. However, if you do not sign on before making a purchase, you will receive only one-time access to the article or e-book. You will lose access to your purchase when you close your Web browser.

What if I forget my username or password?

If you've forgotten your username or password, visit the Sign On Solutions page, and follow the instructions.

Can I simply sign up again?

Yes. However, you would lose access to any articles and e-books purchased using the previous username and password.

How much of the article or e-book do I get to see before making a purchase?

You may view the title, author, and a brief summary of the article or e-book before purchasing it.

How quickly do I get to see the article or e-book I purchase?

The service provides instant access once you click on the "Purchase Now" button. If you purchased the article or e-book while signed on, you will receive ongoing access. My Pay-per-View or My Subscriptions give you quick access to all of your purchases.

What is the difference between Pay-Per-View and Subscriptions?

Pay-Per-View service provides access to individual articles and e-books. The Subscription service gives you access to all of the publication's content for a year.

Will I receive a receipt for my purchase?

Yes. A receipt will be sent to the e-mail address you specified when you set up your account (please enter your e-mail address accurately). Please note that "Infocon America Corp" will appear on your credit card statement.

Can I print articles or e-books I purchase?

Yes. Please note, however, that each article or e-book is contained in a single HTML file and so will print in its entirety unless you specify a page range. Longer items such as e-books contain approximate page counts in the table of contents.

Can I copy or otherwise duplicate the contents of the articles and e-books I purchase?

All purchases are subject to U.S. copyright law, so you are not authorized to copy or duplicate anything beyond the bounds of "Fair Use." See the ASCD Web Copyright Statement for further information.

Whom should I contact if I have questions about my purchase or problems with the service?

Send an e-mail to webpubs@ascd.org. You can also send a fax to 1-703-575-5400 (attn. WebPubs), or call toll-free 1-800-933-2723, ext. 8550.

Whom should I contact if I see a billing error on my credit card statement?

Please contact Infocon America Corp.'s Billing Support department at 1-949-250-4560.

ASCD's Web site contains all kinds of information about the organization. Many ASCD products and services are available for purchase in the ASCD Online Store.
