Do Kids Really Need Homework?

ASCD Express Links

In this February 2009 interview from CBS's "Assignment America," Ben Berrafato, an 11-year-old in the 5th grade says homework is tantamount to slavery. "Homework is assigned to students like me without our permission, thus homework is slavery. Slavery was abolished with the passing of the 13th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, so every school in America has been illegally run for the past 143 years," Berrafato says.
