If you've been an educator for any length of time, you've probably felt a sense of déjà vu at least once when your district decides to adopt the latest education trend. You think, "Didn't we already try this, just under a different name?"

Veteran journalist and PBS Newshour correspondent John Merrow feels your pain. In his blog, Taking Note, he highlights problems, celebrates solutions, and brings his considerable experience to bear when considering education reform efforts and various other topics related to the field.

Recent posts include a discussion of "overage" children in Louisiana schools and a critical overview of Arne Duncan's Race to the Top program. Merrow's interview with ASCD author Diane Ravitch from this past summer also caught our attention for his thoughtful questions and Ravitch's fearlessness in the face of controversy.
