Leadership Institute for Legislative Advocacy

ASCD's 2016 Leadership Institute for Legislative Advocacy will feature

  • Nationally-renowned whole child advocate and education policy expert Paul Reville. A former Massachusetts Secretary of Education, Reville has been instrumental in highlighting the out-of-school factors that affect learning. As LILA’s keynote speaker, he will discuss the importance of whole child policies that support the comprehensive needs of students.
  • The latest federal education policy news from key insiders, including updates on Congress’s efforts to replace NCLB, how these pending changes could affect your school and profession, and what lawmakers are planning about top-of-mind topics such as teacher evaluations and school accountability.
  • Interactive skill-building sessions that will help you translate your firsthand experiences as an educator into compelling examples and stories that influence decision making.
  • Capitol Hill visits with your federal lawmakers where you can immediately put your advocacy training and skills into practice and discuss education policies and issues that affect your work. Better yet, ASCD staff will support you every step along the way so that you can make the most of your meetings with your representatives.
