Classroom Instruction That Works: Leveraging What We Know to Help All Students Succeed
November 12–13, 2010 | San Diego, Calif.
Our students need high quality instruction every day—it’s a key ingredient for their success, particularly if they are struggling to achieve. Part of high quality instruction is using research-based instructional strategies purposefully, intentionally, and explicitly. This session highlights updated research and recommended classroom practices for nine categories of instructional strategies featured in Classroom Instruction That Works. We will present an instructional framework to organize use of the strategies and engage participants in activities that will help them understand the nuances of how to use these research-based strategies to boost student achievement.
Outcomes: As a result of this session, participants will be able to
- Describe key features of the recommended classroom practices associated with the research-based instructional strategies;
- Plan instruction that purposefully, intentionally, and explicitly incorporates research-based instructional strategies; and
- Develop a plan for enhancing their use of the research-based instructional strategies
