Aileen Hower, EdD, is an associate professor of literacy at Millersville University, where she also serves as the coordinator for the Language & Literacy Graduate Program. She is the past president and current ILA coordinator of the Keystone State Literacy Association. She is the author of several articles on literacy and writing and runs a summer writing institute each summer at Millersville.

Pérsida Himmele, PhD, is a professor of language and literacy at Millersville University in Pennsylvania. She is a former elementary and middle school teacher and the co-author of several ASCD books and resources, including the quick reference guide Planning Effective Instruction for ELLs and the bestselling book Total Participation Techniques.
