ASCD Board of Directors Call for Nominations

Award-Winning Year for Educational Leadership

ASCD’s Educational Leadership won the 2021 Gold Excel award from Association Media & Publishing for Best Single Topic coverage for our issue on “Mental Health for Educators” (December 2020/January 2021). We also received a Bronze for Best Feature Article for Zaretta Hammond’s “The Power of Protocols for Equity” in EL’s April 2020 issue.
EL also won a prestigious 2021 APEX Grand Award from Communications Concepts, Inc. for our April 2020 special report, “A New Reality: Getting Remote Learning Right,” responding to the March 2020 closure of schools at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Grand Awards honor the very highest level of excellence in publishing. Our theme issue on “Mental Health for Educators” also won an APEX Award of Excellence for Magazines.

ASCD Adds National Education Leaders to 2021–2022 Board of Directors

On July 1, ASCD welcomed four new members with significant experience in education to its Board of Directors, who will lead the organization in its efforts to support educators in transforming teaching and learning while fostering dynamic personal and professional learning communities with peers across the globe. The organization’s 2021–2022 Board of Directors will also include nine returning members.
ASCD’s Board is made up of appointed members and individuals elected from the organization’s membership. Newly appointed members include President of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education Aaron Thompson and President of the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation Chris Koch. Newly elected members of the Board are Baldwin County School District Superintendent Noris Price and Jacksonville North Pulaski School District Superintendent Jeremy Owoh.

ASCD Constitution and Bylaw Change

The ASCD Board of Directors is pleased to announce the proposed Constitution and Bylaw change relating to Board size and number of appointed seats was approved by the ASCD membership. The change took effect on June 1, 2021. Find more information at www.ascd.org/governance.
