School Tools / Action Plan for the Arts thumbnail
Despite strapped budgets, school leaders are not without options when it comes to providing students with access to high-quality arts education, according to a new guide published by the Arts Education Partnership and the National Association of Elementary School Principals. The guide provides an action plan to help school leaders create an arts-rich school culture and find resources to support sustainable programming. The recommendations include integrating the arts into strategic plans, tapping multiple streams of funding, providing arts-oriented professional development, and considering arts experience in hiring and staffing decisions. The resource is available at www.ecs.org/what-school-leaders-can-do-to-increase-arts-education.

EL’s experienced team of writers and editors produces Educational Leadership magazine, an award-winning publication that reaches hundreds of thousands of K-12 educators and leaders each year. Our work directly supports the mission of ASCD: To empower educators to achieve excellence in learning, teaching, and leading so that every child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
