Starting the Conversation
To facilitate informal group conversations about the whole child, ASCD has launched the Whole Child Community Conversations Project, which enables groups to explore how to work together to support this important initiative. Two versions of a facilitator's guide are available: One targets local community engagement and the other, student engagement. Local community members can reflect on such questions as, What would a whole child education look like? or What are some things that public schools in the community are doing to ensure a whole child approach? Students can reflect on such questions as, What does educating the whole child mean to students? and What is the student's role in this initiative?
Learn how to engage your community in a conversation about educating the whole child. For more information and to download the facilitator's guides, visitwholechild@ascd.org.
Tune In to ASCD Authors
When you read a great book about education, sometimes you'd like to hear more from the author. Now you can go beyond the book and hear some of ASCD's most popular authors talk about their recent publications. Listen to 10-minute interviews with such authors as Robert Marzano, Judy Willis, Thomas Armstrong, James Stronge, Katy Ridnouer, Donna Ogle, and Judith Irvin. The authors answer thought-provoking questions and expand on the most provocative aspects of their newly released books. To listen to author interviews, go to www.ascd.org and click on Publications, Books, and “ASCD Talks with an Author.”
