What made this experience meaningful?

Member Benefits: ASCD Tutorials
Looking for professional development that's free, fun, and convenient? Through online tutorials, ASCD members can access short multimedia lessons on such topics as differentiating instruction, cooperative learning, classroom management, and action research. Each lesson includes short articles on the topic, video and audio files of experts and practitioners, and a list of resources. The tutorials are available on the ASCD Web site (www.ascd.org).
Quality and Diversity Are Key to Student Success
- Every student has the right to attend a high-performing school.
- Every child has the right to be taught by quality, fully licensed and certified teachers.
- Schools must use education to bridge the divides caused by the deepest differences among groups of people.
ASCD's Issues Committee developed the three positions on the basis of surveys and other input from members and affiliates. For more information on these positions, visit the News and Issues section on the ASCD Web site (www.ascd.org).
ASCD Governance Restructuring Update
Ballots for the 2002 ASCD General Membership election will be mailed in early September as part of the transition to the new ASCD governance structure. Members will elect a President-Elect, a Review Council member, six members of the Board of Directors (staggered terms), and 18 members of the Leadership Council (staggered terms). The Leadership Council will elect nine of its members to the Board of Directors in a special spring election in 2003.
The 2002 elections are the first time that individuals will be running for positions under the new governance structure adopted by the membership in the fall of 2000. The terms of incumbents in some positions are extended by one year as part of the transition to the new structure. For more information, visit the Members Only section of the ASCD Web site and click on “Governance” (www.ascd.org).
