Jane Pollock, coauthor of ASCD bestseller Classroom Instruction That Works, works worldwide with teachers, coaches and principals on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and supervision. Her work results in improved student achievement at the classroom and school levels.

A former classroom and ESL teacher, Pollock worked as a district administrator and Senior Researcher for McREL Research Laboratory. She is president of Learning Horizon.

Susan Hensley is a practicing educator who contributed to Jane E. Pollock's Minding the Achievement Gap One Classroom at a Time, explaining the ways that she helps teachers motivate students to learn better by using research-based strategies.

Hensley taught at the elementary level, served as a literacy facilitator and curriculum specialist, and now works as a K–8 executive director of curriculum and instruction for Rogers Public Schools in Rogers, Arkansas.

She earned degrees at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and John Brown University, has an ESOL endorsement, and is a Northwest Arkansas National Writing Project Teacher Consultant.
