Eleven Healthy Sites
ASCD has awarded $10,000 grants to 11 school teams from the United States and Canada that will work with their communities to create healthy school environments. Selected from nearly 300 applicants, the sites have demonstrated a strong level of commitment to supporting comprehensive health programs and collaborating with other community institutions to develop best practices in leadership and instruction.

- Pottstown School District, Pottstown, Pennsylvania
- Queen Elizabeth Secondary, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada
- Woodland Park Elementary, Surrey, British Columbia, Canada
School teams will participate in a study to identify key indicators of success. They will receive technical assistance and become part of a Healthy School Communities Network. ASCD in Anaheim
ASCD will host its 62nd Annual Conference and Exhibit Show at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, March 17–19, 2007. The conference theme is “Valuing the Whole Child: Embracing a Global Vision.”
More than 10,000 educators are expected to attend the three-day event, which will feature more than 550 sessions presented by nationally known consultants and educators. General session speakers include Stand for Children cofounder Jonah Edelman, ABC News correspondent Manuel Medrano, and the youth program Shakespeare Festival/LA.
The Annual Conference will kick off at 5 p.m. on March 16 with The Magic of Books: Bringing People Together, a celebration cosponsored by ASCD and Pearson Education to support literacy in Anaheim Title I schools.
