OYEA Celebrates 10 Years
Begun in 2002, the Outstanding Young Educator Award (OYEA) program has awarded more than $140,000 to outstanding educators under the age of 40 who go above and beyond to ensure that their students are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. Each year, up to two educators are selected from a large pool of highly qualified applicants to receive $10,000 each and recognition at ASCD's annual conference.
Award winners become part of a leadership cadre that shares best practices in the field. These highly valued members of the ASCD community have become ASCD authors, annual conference presenters, members of the board of directors, columnists in ASCD publications, and ASCD bloggers.
ASCD accepts nominations and self-nominations for the OYEA program year round; the deadline to apply for the 2013 award is August 1, 2012. For more information and to obtain the online application, go towww.ascd.org/oyea.
Vote on the Changes!
Voting on proposed changes to the ASCD Constitution opens on May 4, 2012. ASCD members should go towww.ascd.org/vote and follow the instructions to weigh in on the proposed changes.
