The 61st ASCD Annual Conference and Exhibit Show will kick off at 5 p.m. on March 31, 2006, with Books & All That Jazz. This special celebration, sponsored by Pearson Education and the Fischler School of Education and Human Services at Nova Southeastern University, supports literacy in the Chicago Title I Schools. The donation of a new book for students is a ticket to an evening of networking, food, music, dancing, a karaoke contest, and more. Shuttle buses will be available to the Bash from the Hilton Chicago and Intercontinental Chicago hotels.
The ASCD Annual Conference will be held at Lakeside Center at McCormick Place in Chicago. The theme is “Constructing the Future, Challenging the Past: Excellence in Learning, Teaching, and Leadership.” More than 13,000 educators are expected to attend the three-day event, which will feature more than 550 sessions presented by nationally known educators and consultants on a wide variety of topics, including No Child Left Behind, teacher leadership, worldwide learning, technology, closing the achievement gap, and What Works in Schools.
