Positive Chalk DC is changing the landscape of student agency—literally. The organization, established in June 2020 by Val Suarez, gives youth in the nation's capital a way to express themselves by creating art and writing messages with two simple tools: chalk and pavement. Founded in response to the murder of George Floyd, the organization creates spaces for children and families to be heard, inspire positive change, and develop the language necessary to advocate for themselves and their communities. Positive Chalk also provides curriculum support to schools, educational activities to parents, and art activities to the community. Follow them on Instagram.
