A photograph is not only an image . . . it is also a trace, something directly stencilled off the real . . .—Susan Sontag
It takes special vision to perceive a compelling image in an unlikely place. Photographer Joel Martin captured the shadows of his fellow 5th graders just as they finished snapping photos around the Number 6 School in Woodmere, New York. The tallest trace belongs to teacher Lori Skonberg, who leads the photography cluster as part of a schoolwide effort to discover and cultivate artistic talents.
