February 2021: Making Professional Learning Stick
Educational #Shelfie
My curriculum team is reimagining professional learning, and the latest issue of EL magazine is all about this very topic! Just finished Lauren Porosoff's article ["Accounting for Vulnerability in Peer-to-Peer PD"]. Great points as we consider next steps! So excited to read this issue!

Powerful Professional Learning
Love this issue of EL magazine! My biggest reminder after reading—following up after professional learning is key! Thinking through how to make that happen. Thank you for all the expertise!
—Jenna Moller (@jenna_moller)
EL magazine was pivotal in my ability to organize and push for what was best for students during my 13 years of teaching. Now that I'm a teacher support person, EL is again arriving with a timely topical issue that I know is gonna help me support teachers and empower students. Thanks.

Knight Moves
Jim Knight! Fantastic article that emerges as a checklist/roadmap for sustained professional development ["Moving from Talk to Action in Professional Learning."] Understanding the stages of readiness helps schools recognize the need for long-term planning of initiatives. Becomes a feedback loop applied to PD that's mission oriented.

Each time Chris Shade brings home a copy of EL magazine I geek out just a little. This month's article from the formidable Jim Knight has my brain doing all kinds of mental gymnastics. I'm going to need to spend some time with the five stages of implementation.

This issue is full of great articles, and I especially love the one from Jim Knight. It has me thinking about how I can intentionally help teachers reflect and move forward as we implement changes in resources and instruction. Plus, this reference list is on fire!

Lessons from the Pandemic
Totally agree with Douglas Reeves ["Five Professional Learning Transformations for a Post-COVID World"]. We need to end "drive-by," one-shot PD for teachers. These can be great for introducing teachers to new ideas, but otherwise are so tough for really moving teacher practice.
