December 2018/January 2019: The Arts and Creativity in Schools
Editor's note: Here at EL magazine, we love to see evidence of the impact of our contributors' work. After reading Sia Kyriakakos' article "Taking Back Baltimore through the Arts," former United States Secretary of Education John King Jr. met with several of Kyriakakos' students at The Education Trust in Washington to hear their stories and future goals and plans.
An Artful Impact
"To educate the whole child, we need to address their trauma and support their social-emotional learning. Art can and should be part of this process." Beautiful piece by Baltimore City Schools teacher Sia Kyriakakos.

So happy to have the opportunity to introduce my students to @JohnBKing and the incredible work he is doing for every child! Proudly listened to my Baltimore City young people share their stories of transformation and goals for tomorrow, which now include running for office!
