Social Justice Reading for Kids
Looking to broaden your classroom library? In its Social Justice Books project, the nonprofit Teaching for Change curates a deep selection of multicultural and social justice books for children and young adults. The books are chosen with an eye toward representation, peoples' histories, and storyline depth and quality. The website features booklists organized by topic (such as activism, family, and voting rights), reviews and rankings, and a video series on anti-bias books in the classroom. "Children's books teach children about who is important, who matters, who is even visible," states the project's guide to book selection. "Consequently, carefully choosing quality children's books is an indispensable educational and child-rearing task." Visit: https://socialjusticebooks.org/
