John G. Gabriel is the author of the ASCD bestseller How to Thrive as a Teacher Leader (2005) and the article "What It Takes to Make a Teacher Leader" (EQ; 2005). He is currently an assistant principal at Park View High School in Loudoun County, Virginia. He worked in three other public school systems as an English teacher and then as a department chair before entering administration. He received his bachelor's degree from Mary Washington College, graduating with honors in English and Education. Gabriel also holds a master's degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University.
