Kimberly Eckert is a high school English teacher, district program coordinator, and instructional coach in Brusly, La. She is an Understood Teacher Fellow and the 2018 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year, and she was a finalist for the NEA Social Justice Activist of the Year Award in 2019. She was most recently named a top 50 finalist for the Global Teacher Prize.
