Yaribel Mercedes is an adjunct assistant professor of literacy in Hunter College’s School of Education. She is also the executive producer of Live Brunch Sundays and a member of the Genius Garden Collective, a group of educational activists, guided by the work of Gholdy Muhammad, that advocates for children in schools to be recognized for their genius and be given access to joyful curriculum and pedagogy.
