ELL teacher and trainer Tan Huynh wanted a simple, time-friendly way to share strategies with teachers at his school. In 2016, he started creating infographics with reminders, teaching strategies, and general pep talks to motivate his colleagues to advocate for English learners. He then decided to post them where he had the best chance for a captive audience—in the faculty restrooms. "Bathroom Briefs are easy for me to produce, and an easy way for teachers to receive PD on-the-go, ‘as they go,’" Huynh says. When these resources were positively received by his colleagues, he began posting them online on his Empowering ELLs website for anyone to download, print, and post. "Teachers can use them as they are, or, better yet, be inspired to create ones for their own school," he says. Access all Huynh's Bathroom Briefs at www.empoweringells.com/bathroom-briefs.
