Shira Leibowitz is a dynamic educator, author, education consultant, entrepreneur, and experienced school leader who served for 20 years as a principal of nursery through eighth grade independent schools in the greater New York City area.
As an adjunct faculty member, Leibowitz teaches courses in leadership, curriculum, and research design to students in the doctoral program of education at Northeastern. She is a national faculty member for the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, and CEO/founder of Revabilities, a professional learning academy, as well as Discovery Village, a project and play-based childcare center and preschool located in Tarrytown, NY. Prior to that, Leibowitz was director of Portfolio, a founding lower school in greater New York City, and she led independent schools in the same area for 20 years, serving as department head and curriculum coordinator, lower school principal, and head of school. She has coached teachers throughout the United States in implementing project-based learning and has led online communities of practice focused on educational innovation, teaching and learning, and instructional coaching.
